The bright colors danced on the wall as I held the round, crystal-like candle holder up in the sunlight. I enjoyed taking it off the living room coffee table and holding it in my hand every once in a while when I was a child. If I turned the glass at various angles, the colors of the spectrum would seem to come alive and change a normal room into a magnificent light show. God sure knew how to build a world when He designed it with such surprises that we come upon. No one could have planned it any better!
In some ways, Christ is similar to the glass prism I liked to hold. There are many different facets to His Person, and, as His light shines through those facets, He changes a normal life into a magnificent display of glory. For example, John called Him the Word. This facet of His Person emanates the heart of God as He communicated with humanity through His Son. Jesus also is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and the Son of Man who will one day return on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. He is the Son of God, the Savior and Immanuel – God with us. When you look at these and His many other facets, and when you allow them to impact you, you will never be the same.
During this season of Advent, will you take time to hold Christ in your heart and let Him reflect the various aspects of His Person to you? We would love to have you join us on the remaining Sundays to Christmas and on Christmas Eve as we look at the facets of Christ being our hope, peace, joy and love. More importantly, will you make it a life-long journey to Him better in every way? What a way to honor and celebrate His coming!
Lord Jesus, there is much more to You than I often consider.
The facets of Your Person are a wonder to behold!
Show me more of Yourself during this season
and shine your splendor into my being.
Open the eyes of my spirit to see You more clearly.
In Your name I pray, amen.
